Just one week before the General Election in the UK, the Jewish Labour Movement accuses Corbyn and makes public the details of their anti-Semitism accusations against the Labour party. And very personally against Jeremy Corbyn. So why they have they done this?
Who are Jewish Labour Movement?
Firstly lets look at what is the Jewish Labour Movement (JLM). It is a branch of Poale Zion, which was originally Marxist in the early 20th century but then split and the centre-right wing faction became the main Poale Zion and then the Israeli Labour Party. Many Israeli prime ministers have been from this party, and have not delivered any justice to Palestinians during their tenures. So of course we should all expect that the JLM UK is doing what the central administration in Israel wants. JLM have been anti-Corbyn at least since the Labour leadership election.
Why are JLM making accusations now?
Proper scrutiny of the claims by JLM will not be published until next summer, but JLM have decided to put THEIR side of the ‘argument’ just a week before the election. JLM states, “Whilst we would not have wanted our final EHRC submission published in this way before the Commission was ready to publish its final report next summer, we understand that there is widespread interest in this issue and in our evidence.” We should ask whether JLM seriously thinks there is less anti-Semitism in the other parties esp the Tory party. If they don’t, then there can only be one reason to undermine Labour’s chances in this way, otherwise they could have allowed the public interest in the issue to wait until after the election.
What are the accusations – especially where Jewish Labour Movement accuses Corbyn personally?
The full JLM submission is at https://www.scribd.com/document/438367082/Redacted-JLM-Closing-Submission-to-the-EHRC . You can find a specific section where the Jewish Labour Movement accuses Corbyn personally on p9-10 section D paras 24-26.
It is hard to see their claims against Corbyn as being able to survive independent scrutiny, since any wider context to each of their allegations would easily support alternative interpretations of what Corbyn was doing and stand against a huge volume of his integrity against racism.
What is really at stake?
It’s worth watching the following video as a reminder to not forget what is at stake here. David Graeber is an Anthropologist. He’s Jewish. He was a leading figure in the Occupy Wall Street movement, and is sometimes credited with having coined the slogan, “We are the 99 percent”. He is a former Yale associated professor. He has a message for those people who continue to push the line that Corbyn is an antisemite.
What kind of person is Corbyn?
Corbyn is human, he isn’t perfect. But it is painful to watch somebody with as much integrity as Corbyn being slandered in this totally unjust way. As somebody in the Question Time audience said yesterday, the media made a lot out of Corbyn not watching the Queen’s Speech on Christmas Day, and conveniently left out that he in fact was out visiting a homeless shelter. That is the kind of rare man he is – somehow it’s in front of our face and too many people can’t see it because they are blinded by the propaganda.
